History

Founded by Hugh Bridle, a builder himself, Kalka was born from the vision to deliver a pre-designed home that offered the highest quality design to maximise space, function and aesthetic, delivered with exceptional customer service.

We earned our reputation in Brisbane and South East Queensland through our innovative narrow and small lot homes. We offer an extensive range of small and narrow lot house designs and our services have now expanded to flexible pre-designed and custom homes for any block size.

Our reputation of being an honest, quality and premium home builder has earned many industry accolades including the revered Housing Industry Association’s highest honours as ‘Best Australian Project Home, 2016’.

Hugh Bridle

FOUNDER + OWNER

Hugh grew up on a cattle station in northern New South Wales called ‘Kalkamoning’. He attended boarding school in Toowoomba and upon completion of his carpentry apprenticeship Hugh started building spec homes in Toowoomba. In 2006, he founded Kalka in Brisbane, concentrating on bringing more functional and modern small-lot homes to the inner-city markets.

Gelly brings a wealth of knowledge to the team, with over 30 years of experience in the building and construction industry. He has always had a passion for new and efficient methods of building, to deliver the best results for new homeowners.

Kim Bridle

HEAD OF INTERIOR DESIGN

Upon joining the business in 2010, Kim has brought a wealth of experience and astute attention to detail to all Kalka homes. Kim has spearheaded the distinct Kalka interiors style, now widely celebrated in the industry as a benchmark for timelessness, quality and practicality with a genuine Australian aesthetic.
